Frequently Asked Questions

Q/ I HAVE JUST JOINED THE CLUB WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO BOOK A TEE
TIME?
A/ On joining the club, Admin will issue you with a unique Membership number which is used to
log into BRS. Follow this link: https://members.brsgolf.com/backworth/login
Enter your username and password and select LOGIN. Select the ICON – BOOK A TEE – and
select the day and time you want to play. Scroll down to the Tee times that say BOOK NOW, and
type your name, which will automatically come up on the screen. Press UPDATE BOOKING to
secure this.
Q/ CAN I PLAY 18 HOLES?
A/ Yes you can. However, as Backworth Golf Course is a 9-hole course all bookings made are
defaulted to 9 holes. At the top of the BOOK NOW option, you will find the number of holes
available. If you want to play 18 holes you need to change the selection from 9 to 18. If the option
is not given to play 18, this is because the back 9 holes are already booked by another member.
Backworth Golf Club BRS system gives you 1hr and 40 minutes to play your front 9 and so if you
booked an 18 hole at 9am the slot at 10.40am would need to be available to give you the back 9
making this an 18-hole booking. If you find the slot you want does not offer 18 holes, choose
another time – you will find by being flexible you will get this at a different time.
Q/ WHAT HAPPENS IF I FORGET MY LOGIN DETAILS FOR BRS?
A/ If you forget your log in details, please contact the admin team at golf@backworthhall.co.uk
Q/ HOW DO I INVITE GUESTS TO PLAY?
A/ If you want to bring guests into your booking, after you have selected your name as in Q1 above,
move to Player 2 and type G for guest, the option will automatically appear on the screen.  Admin will bill you after the fact
for those guests. Shortly, BRS will update the system and you will need to pay automatically for
your guests, Admin will advise you when this is going to happen.
Q/ WHAT TEES DO I HAVE TO PLAY OFF?
A/ In Social Golf male members should play off the yellow tees. The ladies play from the red tees.
During competition play the men play from the white tees on the front nine and the white/black tees
on the back nine.
Q/I HEAR MENTION OF BRS AND MSB WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
A/ BRS is the booking platform for your general tee times, or social golf. This is the system we use
to take payment for your memberships and your guests. This system is not linked to your handicap
or to any competitions that require a booking to be made. You will notice on BRS that on some days
there are block bookings and it says ‘competition’, you are unable to put your names into those
spaces.
Master Score Board (MSB) is the platform used to update your handicap, keep a record of your
scores, enter the Saturday competition and keep a ‘purse’ for your competition entry fees. Both have
different log-in details. BRS is supplied by Golf Admin, MSB is administered by the Golf
Committee.
Q/ CAN I PLAY IN COMPETITIONS WITHOUT A HANDICAP?
A/ No. You must have a handicap issued by the Handicap Committee to play in competitions
Q/ HOW DO I GAIN A HANDICAP?
A/ All competitors must have a Club Handicap issued by the Handicap/Competition
Secretary
Handicaps can be obtained by submitting either three 18 hole or six 9 hole cards or a
mixture of both which equal 54 holes, playing from the Yellow Tee Markers, during the
competition season only(Mid April until the end of September).
Cards to be used to set your handicap must be marked “FOR HANDICAP” and signed by
a club member with a current handicap. The person who signs your card must have played
with you and verified the card.
Once you have completed 54 holes place all cards in the blue competition box in the
locker room for the attention of the Handicap Secretary.
You will then be awarded an initial handicap and your name will be registered with
Masterscoreboard.
If you would like further information on how to gain a handicap please contact George

A/ Men can currently play in 18 hole Saturday Competitions and a 9 hole midweek competition.
The Ladies administer their own competitions.
Q/ WHY DO I USE BRS FOR BOOKING SOCIAL GOLF AND A MIDWEEK
COMPETITION BUT MSB FOR A SATURDAY COMPETITION?
Midweek competitions are usually NO FIXED TEE RESERVATION, this means that you can book
into the competition at a time convenient to you through BRS. Saturday’s competitions are blocked
booked by the Golf Committee so that only those members wishing to play in the competition can
book a tee time. Booking into these competitions are done via MSB.
Q/ CAN I ACCESS MSB IF I DON’T HAVE A HANDICAP?
A/ No. You must have a handicap before you can access MSB
Q/ ONCE I HAVE A HANDICAP HOW DO I ACCESS MSB?
A/ If you wish to play in club competitions and submit scores for handicap purposes you
must register on MasterscoreBoard
Note: You will not be able to access Masterscoreboard until you have submitted score
cards for handicap purposes and have been awarded an initial handicap by the handicap
committee.
Once this is completed you will be able to access Masterscoreboard and create a personal
